Twin dragons rise again... in one complete package!

It's hardly an exaggeration to say that Double Dragon helped create an entire subgenre. Without the first game from 1987, the side-scrolling beat 'em up genre as we know it today wouldn't exist, and the sheer number of games it has inspired is staggering. Double Dragon Collection takes you on a journey from the beginning of the 80s all the way to the latest mainline installment, Double Dragon IV, from 2017. Get ready for a brawl!

The collection includes six games.

DOUBLE DRAGON (1988)

Double Dragon was released in arcades in 1987 and ported to the NES™ the following year. The main difference between the arcade version and the console conversion is that the latter is a single-player game, while you could play with two players in the arcades.

DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE (1989)

The sequel Double Dragon II: The Revenge is not only a true classic, but also the first time the multiplayer feature was included for home formats. The reason Double Dragon II has The Revenge as a subtitle is that main character Billy's girlfriend Marian is killed at the beginning of the game.

DOUBLE DRAGON III: THE SACRED STONES (1991)

The first three games in the Double Dragon series were all released for the NES™, forming a sort of trilogy. All three have an arcade predecessor, but Double Dragon III differs the most from its.

SUPER DOUBLE DRAGON (1992)

Super Double Dragon has no arcade game as its basis but is a unique game. Since it was originally made for the Super NES™, it is more advanced than the previous installments and includes features such as a block button and a special gauge.

 DOUBLE DRAGON ADVANCE (2003)

Despite being released for a portable format (specifically Game Boy Advance™), Double Dragon Advance is a true high point in the series. It is a remake of the first game but has been expanded with features from several other installments. The Hyper Uppercut and The Hyper Knee, for example, are taken from Double Dragon II: The Revenge, while a stage in Chinatown and another stage on top of a moving truck are heavily inspired by Super Double Dragon.

DOUBLE DRAGON IV (2017)

Double Dragon IV is the latest numbered Double Dragon game and was released a full 26 years after Double Dragon III. The game is strongly inspired by Double Dragon II: The Revenge and uses the same graphical style. It is also the first game that Double Dragon's original creator, Yoshihisa Kishimoto, has directed since the 8-bit era.

Each game in the collection has four slots for saving game progress, as well as video options for different resolutions, screen sizes, scanline types, and wallpapers. You can also adjust the volume, quality of sound effects, and reverb levels.
